Executive Director

Emily Dobmeier is a passionate arts leader, clarinetist, and educator, excitedly joining the Lake Placid Sinfonietta as Executive Director in the 2025 summer season. She is thrilled to be relocating to the Lake Placid area, where she looks forward to combining her love for music and the outdoors. Emily brings a deep passion for summer performing arts organizations and a long-standing connection to the region, having spent many seasons in the Adirondacks—including time at her family’s camp on Raquette Lake.

Before joining the Sinfonietta, Emily served as Vice President of Operations and Artistic Planning at Luzerne Music Center, a summer music camp and concert series in the southern Adirondack region. In her eight years of work for this organization, she led artistic programming and managed the overall operations, supported strategic growth and fundraising, and collaborated with artists and partner organizations to deliver vibrant concerts and impactful education for young musicians and the community.

In addition to her administrative leadership, Emily is an active performer and educator. She is Principal Clarinetist of the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes and has appeared as a soloist with this ensemble and in Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp’s Summer Music Series. She has been a featured artist and presenter at Ithaca College, Wichita State University, and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, and continues to perform throughout Western and Central New York as a freelance musician.

Emily is on clarinet faculty at the Eastman Community Music School in Rochester, NY, and has taught students of all ages—from collegiate musicians at the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, to adult learners through the New Horizons program and younger students through private instruction and outreach in local schools.

She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, a Master of Music in Clarinet Performance from DePaul University, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Clarinet Performance from Ithaca College.
