This program celebrates the profound influence of jazz on 20th-century music, opening with James Stephenson's Printemps, a vibrant and lyrical work that hints at modern innovation. Jean Absil’s Petite Suite adds a playful, jazzy flair, paving the way for Jacques Ibert’s Concertino da Camera, a saxophone showcase infused with sparkling energy and swing featuring Dan Gordon. Darius Milhaud’s La Création du Monde transports the audience to the soulful heart of early jazz, weaving its roots into a stunning orchestral tapestry. The concert reaches its pinnacle with George Gershwin’s iconic Rhapsody in Blue, a masterful blend of jazz and classical traditions, brought to life by Maestro Malina at the piano. This electrifying program spotlights jazz as a unifying thread, bridging continents and redefining musical boundaries.
